It had been two weeks since that first time she woken. Two long weeks in a strange village of sorts she felt were far different than what vague recollections she had. She had learned several things however. The most confusing and simultaneously sense making thing of all, she was probably dead. She didn't really feel dead, but it still accounted for her lost memories and home. How things felt so very out of place. It wasn't hard to accept, unlike some others she had seen going mad. Perhaps her lack of memories was a blessing in that regard. Tsukiko had also learned a few other bits of information. This place was known as Soul Society. She wondered vaguely if this was supposed to be heaven or hell... though her new employer had been firmly convinced there was a hell and this most certainly wasn't it. Ah yes, the new employer. Tsukiko had a job in a small little restaurant of an aged couple. They had taken sympathy for her lost and dishelved state several days ago; and offered her a meal. To their surprise and amusement she had refused to take it unless she worked for it. She had proved adept at cleaning and dealing with customers enough to get hired on full time. She was provided a nice tiny bedroom to sleep in, food, conversation, and by far the most wondrous was a bath. Clothing was provided too, a simple kimono of grey fabric, still it was comfortable and covered her adequately. She sat behind the pay counter and watched people walking past the open doorway into the market. Her elbow propped on the surface as her hand supported her delicate chin. Her vivid eyes studied each being that past. Absently wondered just what sort of people they may have once been. After all, she was dead and all people die. Could be she might just see someone famous. Like Elvis. A faint line of a smile curved her soft lips before slipping away. Honestly, she just couldn't seem to bring herself to excitement. She wasn't sure why, unless she was indeed mourning the loss of her forgotten life? Odd thought, but yet it rung truth. |

Ryuken was standing in front of the counter, watching the woman in front of him seem to day dream about something. Ryuken finally lifted his hand in front of her face and waved it, hoping to grab her attention from whatever thought she was lost in. “Um, excuse me. I was wondering what kind of food you sell? There’s no line here, so I figured I’d try something new.” Ryuken waited for a response and would listen to what this woman would say to him. He was in his normal Shinigami clothes, taking a break from work, as it seemed, and was attempting to replenish his energy by eating a large portion of food. The amount of food he ate each day could match the amount of food an Olympic swimmer or runner would eat daily. That was at least 10,000 Calories a day. “You also look new. I’ve walked by this place a couple times before, but it was usually worked by an elderly couple. Perhaps you are their daughter?” Ryuken pondered for a second and then finally “Grand daughter? Nonetheless, where are my manners… my name is Takashima, Ryuken. It’s nice to meet you.” Ryuken flashed a smile. Talking was what made doing all these investigations of events that happened 3 years prior. First was the investigation of Kameko, which lead to his apparent proposal and possible marriage in the near future. Second was finding this Kubo, Itsuko and speaking with Inaba, Kiryu and finding out where the Ryoka went, one of them being his son. He’d have to go to Earth eventually and figure out what had happened to them. If there was one thing he could do, though, that was visit Ryou and figure out what Hiei has been up to, since appearing before Don might just turn out ugly. Anyways, back to the main plotline, instead of looking at Ryuken’s past and present. |

Tsukiko would see the man walk in as she studied him with almost unfocused eyes. She glanced over his face and such with a vague curiosity. Imagery was running rampant in her mind at each movement he took. Could he have been some sort of idol? She very much doubted he was the Elvis she'd been wondering about. Perhaps he had been some sort of figure out of history? It didn't much matter other than to her curious mind. His garb or the fact that he carried a sword meant little to her. She'd seen a good many others dressed like him on occasion since her arrival and thought they simply were from another era in history than herself. A delicate steel grey eyebrow arched higher over her left eye as he waved a hand in front of her face. A flash of annoyance and amusement slid across her features before she batted his hand away. "I am not blind, sir." Tsukiko slid into waitress mode easily enough. "We serve a college of worldly food. Anywhere from Sushi, Ramen, and various Japanese cuisine to Chinese, Western foods, of those sorts. Though I have to say the specialty here is our Pork and ham Ramen, with handmade noodles." She hesitated briefly at the inquiring of her identity . "I am new, yes. I arrived to this world about two weeks ago. I have no relation to Mr. and Miss. Hanno." Purple eyes flashed blank for the barest of moments before she shook her head and stood. Pulling forth a hand written menu. "We also have various homemade sakes if you may be interested in them." |

He was given quite a selection, but was told that their specialty was the Pork and Ham Ramen. Ryuken was about to ask for 10 orders of it and then he pondered the thought. Pork and Ham. Pork is Ham, isn’t it? “Umm miss… this Pork and Ham Ramen… what’s the difference between the pork and the ham?” Ryuken scratched his head inquisitively, attempting to try to sort out this repetition of meanings. “Anyways, if that’s your specialty, please give me 10 orders of those and a bottle of your strongest Sake.” Ryuken would take out the Ryo from his sleeves and place them on to the counter to pay for it. After that, Ryuken would wait for her to put the order in and then finally ask her: “So… 2 weeks, eh? How do you like it here so far? I know it can get pretty confusing the first few days around, but I hope you’re fitting in fine.” Ryuken proceeded to sit down at the bar, hoping to still keep in conversation distance with this woman. “And you still haven’t told me your name, Miss…” Ryuken was curious who this person was. She used to be human, but Ryuken wondered who killed her and who brought her here via Soul Burial. Honestly, though, that wasn’t an important matter. People get killed all the time, it’s whether they go to Soul Society or not, that is what Ryuken and the rest of Seireitei were concerned about, so that all Hollows would eventually be purified and become pluses. “I’m curious… have you ever thought of changing professions? One that has a higher pay and a lot more action?” Her reiatsu levels were above average, which meant she’d be a decent candidate for the Academy. Ryuken was curious if she’d join the ranks of Shinigami. |

Tsukiko blinked and stared at him for a brief moment when he asked the difference between Pork and ham.... If he wasn't looking at her she'd have smacked herself in the face. "Uhh.... Ham is salt cured and pork is either grilled, roast, or sometimes means bacon sliced.... " She hoped that was enough of a recovery that he wouldn't notice her blunder. Purple orbs remained locked on him in astonishment as he asked for 10 whole orders. "Ten?" Well... if that's what the customer wanted... She shrugged and wrote down on her note pad. "Okay, Ten it is for the grownig boy." She disappeared briefly into the back and he could likely hear her giving his order. Then would return with two Sake bottles. "Here you go. I'll bring the others as you get through them." She said in partial wonder. She glanced at him as she set his table with all the accessories he might want or need. "I don't know if I'm fitting in or not, though it probably doesn't matter much." She replied honesty. " Yuzuki, Tsukiko is my calling." Tsukiko vanished and returned with a little appetizer of rice rolls for him to keep occupied while his main meal cooked. "I haven't really thought of much since I got here." She said as she smiled at the irony."Since I learned I'm probably dead and do not recall much before I woke." "Just sort of getting use to this place. Its... well I don't know what to think of it." She shrugged. "Why do you ask?" Curiosity lit her vivid eyes as she tried not to stare at him rudely. |

Ryuken listened as the woman attempted to rectify her mistake by coming up with differences between ham and pork. Ryuken chuckled to himself, but let it slide as he watched her go in and out of the kitchen, placing his order and coming up with rice rolls for him to snack on until the ramen was ready. “Yuzuki-san, then… Forgetting your past is normal, so fear not of the state of your mind. I know all too well how it feels to be flung into a world where you know nothing of.” It was the truth, for the most part. Ryuken did not lose his memories, being the former Quincy Pope and already spiritually aware before he died. He’d have been a fearsome enemy for Soul Society in the past or present, however even during his reign, he attempted to do as much as he could to solidify a friendship between the Shinigami. Obviously, it was impossible, and Don had now undone all that he attempted to do 7 years prior. Ryuken would pour the sake into the cup provided and would down it quickly and easily. “But Yuzuki-san, if there is one piece of advice I should tell you, it’s that don’t live for the past, live for the present and the future. You may be curious about what your past is, but I think you should rest assured that you can live a new life here.” Ryuken poured another cup for himself and then sighed heavily to show that this would take a while to explain as he leaned the Zanpaktous against the table that he was eating at. “Well, you see, when you become a bit more in tune with the Spirit World, and I’m not speaking of where you are now, I speak of this…” Ryuken pointed at the Zanpaktou and then resumed his explanation. “Your reiatsu, or spiritual pressure, is significantly greater than many of the normal citizens in life. You may have been partially aware while you were alive, but that matters not. You have the ability to become so much greater than a simple waitress at a restaurant.” Ryuken picked up another roll and began to bite into it as he finished the sentence. Setting it back down, he then put his elbows on the table and held his hands together, using his thumb to hold up his head. “You’re no simple soul, that much I know. It is up to you to decide whether you want to become a Shinigami. It is an honorable role within Soul Society, as you will protect people so that they will not become Hollows, or minuses as some call them. They are beings whose souls have manifested in a way that they become souls craving to feast on other souls that are available to them. They have masks. Their mask is the source of their power, so when their mask is split or destroyed, they are slain and either return to Soul Society or go to Hell.” |

She found it curious that she was far from the only that had lost her past. It was a little soothing to know and she smiled appreciatively. A call from the kitchen snatched her awareness as se motioned for him to hold his thoughts. She vanished and in moments returned with a steaming bowl of Pork Ramen. The smell was luscious and made one's mouth water with desire. Even she who had already eaten her own midday meal. She took a seat across from him, perched on her stool. It wasn't quite proper for a waitress to join a customer at their table. Nor did she want to intrude on his space. She pondered thoughtfully. Moving forward did indeed seemed a better option. She had very little to dwell on from her past, after all. Then there was the fact that she was dead and didn't see herself returning to her previous life. Purple orbs flicked to the sword he rested against the edge of the table. She was intrigued by its prescience. She didn't think it had been normal for ones to carry swords in her lost world. "What might you mean aware of?" She asked with true inquisitiveness. Her curiosity darkened some as he described a creature with masks. One that attacked and tried to feed on others. Something in her mind was turning, buzzing at some kind of recognition she couldn't quite place. The image suddenly flared before her eyes like the burning hot flames of her memories. A creature with fearsome teeth and visage. One chasing her, roaring with a horrible sound. Tsukiko blinked and shook her head hard. Trying to toss the image from her mind. "Might... these hollows be monstrous in appearance?" |

Ryuken watched as she brought his food to the table and sat on the stool closest to his table. She was interested, to say the least about what he was speaking of… becoming a Shinigami. He took in the aroma of the Pork Ramen and smiled happily as he began to eat the ramen. “I meant spiritually aware, at least minimally, if not partial. But that does not mean you cannot become a strong, on the contrary, through training and practice, the weak can become strong.” Ryuken watched her as he began to speak of a hollow. Her demeanor had shifted to some type of fear for a second or two, but she then shook her head and then poised a question at him. He wondered if she was slightly remembering the event prior to her death. If that was the case, she truly had some talent. “These hollows do indeed look quite monstrous at their early stages. We Shinigami don’t know much of their stronger beings; however they vary in size and abilities. That is something we do know. I’ve seen many Hollows in my life, and I can say that their essence and being bring a plus like you into the negatives. Thankfully, in Soul Society, you’re safe from becoming a hollow, as hollow have no ability to enter Soul Society.” Ryuken downed the rest of his first bowl of Ramen. What made him so hungry was the use of his kidou and Zanpaktou to its greatest potential. As a Shinigami, it was normal to eat 10-15 bowls a day in order to keep the energy usage on par with uptake. “The perks about being a Shinigami is that you can eat as much as you want without getting fat… but you plusses normally don’t really eat to get full, you simply eat to enjoy eating; besides, I don’t think you enjoy it as much without the hunger.” Ryuken said pleasantly as he awaited the coming of his second bowl. |
